Holiday travel season is here. Somewhere between packing the good dish for Thanksgiving and finding a seat at the gate, the travel-size toothpaste always seems to go missing, burst open in the bag or end up in the security bin. Raynell “Supa Cent” Steward has a fix.

The founder who built The Crayon Case into one of the best-known names in Black-owned cosmetics has moved into oral care with Bower, a line of fluoride-free toothpaste tablets built around one simple routine: bite, brush, smile.

How It Works

Each tablet is toothpaste in solid form. Chew one until it breaks down, brush with a wet toothbrush as it turns into a smooth paste, then rinse. No tube to squeeze, no cap to lose and no guessing how much to use.

The mint tablets are made with nano-hydroxyapatite, xylitol, coconut oil, peppermint oil and tea tree oil, and they come in a reusable glass jar with a bamboo lid. One jar holds 128 tablets, enough for 64 days of brushing twice a day.

Why It Belongs in Your Carry-On

Toothpaste counts as a paste under the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule, which keeps liquids, gels and pastes in carry-on bags to containers of 3.4 ounces or less. Tablets are a different story. As Afar points out, toothpaste tablets are not subject to the 3-1-1 rule, so that is one less item fighting for space in your quart-size bag.

Keep the tablets in their original jar so they are easy to identify at security, and you are set for Thanksgiving at your auntie’s house, the Christmas flight home or a New Year’s getaway.

The Lineup

Bower keeps its line simple, and every option is ready to travel. The Solo Kit, $27.99, pairs one jar of tablets with a bamboo travel toothbrush, and it is the easiest place to start.

The Duo Kit, $52.99, includes two jars and two bamboo travel toothbrushes, made for couples’ trips or a his-and-hers stocking stuffer.

Already have a favorite brush? A single jar is $20.99, and two jars are $39.99 if you want to stock up before the holidays or split them with whoever you are traveling with.

Our Take

What stands out is how little thinking it takes. The pre-portioned tablets keep a messy daily habit neat, the glass jar looks good on a bathroom counter, and the bamboo travel brush means the whole routine fits in one pocket of your bag. For a season of airports, guest rooms and overnight bags, that matters.

It is also a smart move from a founder who knows her customer. Supa Cent built her first brand by making beauty fun and easy to buy, and Bower brings that same energy to something you do twice a day. A subscription program, The Bower Club, is on the way.

Pack light, smile bright.
